Another quiet week for our junior stags with only park run action to report on.  This weekend saw North Belfast Harriers juniors competing across Waterworks, Pomeroy Forest and Waterworks Junior park run with strong performances throughout, a number of personal bests and some excellent finishing positions for our young athletes. Rathlin Run Lighthouse ChallengeThe Rathlin Lighthouse Challenge is a new addition to the race calendar. It’s mostly a road, with some trails, 16 mile foot-race through time, rugged beauty, and maritime heritage. The stunning circular route links the island’s three legendary lighthouses, each with its own tale to tell. Legend has it the Tailteann Games were first established by the Tuatha Dé Danann in honour of Queen Tailte, making them older than the ancient Olympics themselves and there was something fitting about our young Harriers lining out in Carlow this week in the modern revival of those very Games, proudly representing Ulster against the very best in the country. As the week progressed and the summer solstice beckoned, the members of North Belfast Harriers took every opportunity to avail of the bright evenings and improving weather, as they showed their love for running, at races and parks, at home and further afield. It was a quieter week on the racing front for our juniors, with some of our members busy representing their schools at Sports Day events. We did, however, have one young athlete take on the challenge of a mountain run – representing Northern Ireland, while several others were in action at local Parkruns.
