Another quiet week for our junior stags with only park run action to report on.  This weekend saw North Belfast Harriers juniors competing across Waterworks, Pomeroy Forest and Waterworks Junior park run with strong performances throughout, a number of personal bests and some excellent finishing positions for our young athletes. This week’s report highlights another great period for North Belfast Harriers Juniors, full of strong performances, big efforts, and plenty of team spirit. From the Ulster Schools Championships to park runs and junior events, our athletes have been busy and have done themselves and the club proud. As we approach the end of March the weather shows no sign of settling, with torrential downpours of hail, sleet and driving rain accompanied with gale-force winds to remind us that winter still hasn’t gone away and spring is knocking on the door…..but has obviously forgotten its key. We start this week’s report with a very important announcement. As many of you are aware, training at the Girls Model track was cancelled for our juniors on Tuesday 11th November due to a flooded track.  Personally, I thought this would have been good training for the Steeplechase or the backstroke but what would I know!!  This was followed by training being cut short on Thursday 13th November due to the deluge of rain that greeted our juniors as they gathered at …

This week many of our juniors rested their legs in preparation for next week’s NI and Ulster Even Age Group Championships. But it wasn’t just our mini stags that prepared for next week. Mother nature arrived in all her glory dumping a gazillion tons of rainwater (give or take a few litres!!) ensuring that conditions for next weekend would be absolutely perfect. As we power through September the weather forecast continues to look promising!!! Promising for a very wet and muddy cross country season.
