North Belfast Harriers Race Report: 23rd February-1st March

This week’s racing locations ranged from forest trails to indoor tracks to hilly, country roads, with a few personal bests and podium finishes thrown in for good measure! Let’s get stuck into the action…

Born2Run Castlewellan 5k & 10k – 28th February

The Born2Run Winter Series concluded on a sun-drenched Saturday morning at Castlewellan Forest Park. As usual with these events, Bruce Springsteen’s iconic running-themed song echoed around the start line as around 1000 runners took on 5k and 10k races through idyllic forest trails. Four Harriers journeyed to this event, with Fionnuala O’Hare placing 3rd female overall in the 10k race.

National Senior Indoor Championships – 28th February

Niall Armstrong was the sole representative for the club at these championships, held in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin. Rubbing shoulders with some elite competitors, Niall competed in a in a tough 800m heat, clocking an impressive 2:11.59 for the distance. Well done, Niall!

Run the Duff 5k & 10k – 1st March

Carryduff Running Club hosted their inaugural ‘Run the Duff’ 5k and 10k races on Sunday morning, allowing participants the opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of the area and challenge themselves on the tough Carryduff hills. Five Harriers took on the challenge across both distances, and a special mention to Nuala Muldoon who placed 3rd female in the 10k race. Well done to all, and thanks to CRC for a well organised event!

Parkrun

For 107 club runners, the weekend began in style with a Parkrun in the sun, with a variety of locations on display, ranging from Donegal to Germany! As always, volunteer teams helped to make these events possible – many thanks to those who gave up their time.
