Our juniors have settled back into school and are enjoying nicer weather than we had in summer! A very quiet week on the running front with only the 2 Waterworks park runs to report, well done to everyone who turned out at the weekend to take part.
Lots of training and preparation happening behind the scenes for the upcoming cross-country races with the first one this Sunday 22nd September in Armagh, for the TJ McElmeel Cup. Good luck everyone.
Waterworks Park Run – 5k
On Saturday morning we had 4 juniors rock up to take on the 5k. Our first junior over the line was Cormac Leheny in 1st place with a smashing PB of 17:37, well done Cormac. We then had Milo Purvis with a great time of 23:12. Crossing the finish line in 24:56 was Nola Rafferty. Our final junior through was Eva McLoughlin with a time of 28:37, well done guys, great running!

Waterworks Junior Park Run – 2k
On a very overcast morning we had a fabulous turnout, with 17 of our juniors at the Waterworks 2km and 4 out of 5 claiming top positions! Brilliant running from Alex Reid to secure 1st place with a great time of 7:19, well done Alex. Followed in 2nd place by Lucas Mooney with a time of 7:47, closely followed by Isaac Mooney in 4th place with a time of 08:02.
We then had our first female across the line with Nola Rafferty finishing in 5th place with a great time of 08:23, followed by Olivia Boyd in 6th place with a time of 08:51.
Sophia Doris crossed the line in 9th place in a time of 09:21. We then had a very tight pack coming through with Ciara McCloy in 10th place with a PB of 09:27, Grace McKenna in 12th position with 09:32, Jessica Murray in 13th position with a PB of 09:36, Eva McCarney in 14th with a PB of 09;37, and Eva McLoughlin in 15th with 09:37.
Next across the finish line was Fola O’Kane in 25th place with a time of 10:36, followed by Luke Doris with a fabulous PB of 10:58. Ronan O’Neill and Lucy Dickson then smashed through with the same time of 11:17 to take 34th and 35th place respectively. Finishing off the NHB juniors were Eva Mooney in 41st with 12:07 and Penny Dickson in 51st place with 13:19. Well done everyone, great running, and well done on all of the PB’s.

Our junior and Senior coach Séamus McCann is currently over in Leeds at the European Athletics – European Endurance Conference 2024 enhancing and updating his coaching knowledge and skills.
He will be attending with a Lagan Valley and a Beechmount coach. AthleticsNI and NBH have contributed to some of the cost of Séamus attending.
