The artic weather conditions left us just in time for a great morning of cross-country races up at the Mathieson Cup in Mallusk on Sunday morning. Three things are pretty much guaranteed with this event every year….
1 – Seamus & Davy will be there with the club tent, race bibs and lots of great advice for the juniors, big thanks to both of them!
2 – There will be mud…lots of it…
3 – A great friendly atmosphere for all of the kids with enjoyable races.
Also, thanks to the various coaches and parents for helping prepare the kids before each race with warm ups and course walks.
The full results of the race can be found on this Facebook link.
First race of the day was the primary school boys, well done to the six boys Isaac, Milo, Max, Luke, Seadna and Owen
The second race was a spectacular sight due to the sheer number of yellow vests. Our primary school girls came out in their numbers and brilliant running by every single one of them…all 17 of them! They were led home by Sophia in a great 4th place and for many of the girls this was their first ever XC race.

The U13 race combined boys and girls, 9 in total, 5 boys and 4 girls with some great running, well done Cillian as first boy and Nola as first girl for the club.
The U15 race which again had the boys and girls racing together, a great performance by all the juniors with podiums for Leila, Cassie, Thomas and Cormac. In his first race for the Harriers but on very familiar ground Leo also ran a great debut race with Ruarcc, Lucas, Tom, Senan and James all quickly following – as a team going forward, the boys the looking strong!

Finally in the U17 race, we have Cadence Hamilton and Niamh McMillan who both ran good steady runs which Cadence narrowly missing out on a podium.
