Happy New Year to all our club members and supporters! Let’s hope the year ahead is as successful as the last one. This week saw Harriers claim impressive podium places, along with plenty of Parkrun achievements.
East Antrim Marathon Series NYE 10k & Half Marathon – 31st December
To end the year in style, Michael Lamont and Andrew Newell topped the podiums in their 10k and half marathon races respectively. Conditions proved difficult with strong winds and rain adding to the challenge as the runners navigated the coastal stretch at Carrickfergus and Loughshore. Both men dominated their races as Michael finished the 10k in 38mins 21secs, and Andrew completed the half marathon in 1hr 26mins.
Race Over The Glens – 1st January
This annual event is staged by Ballymena Runners in the stunning Glenariff Forest Park. In tough Wintery conditions, almost 600 runners completed the demanding trail course, covering over 10km with 300m of elevation. Among them were six Harriers, with Natasha Henderson claiming top spot in an extremely tight and hotly contested ladies’ race. She finished just one second ahead of the closest female competitor and claimed the title of ‘Queen of the Glen’.
