Well…..Storm Darragh rolled into town this weekend and subsequently led to all Parkruns and Junior Parkruns being cancelled over the weekend. Combined with no races this week means we have a run report without any actual runs! A challenge for any report author however we can highlight some running by two of our NBH Juniors Alumni today.
Former Junior Stags Matthew Lavery and Roise Roberts were both selected to run for Team Ireland U23 teams at today’s European Cross Country Championships held in Turkey. Matthew finished in 49th place subsequently helping Team Ireland finish 4th while Roise finished in 50th place – both being able to say they are among the top 50 in Europe for their respective age categories.
If ever there was motivation and inspiration for all of our Juniors, then Matthew and Roise are both very real examples that if you stick to the training and listen to your coaches, then anything is possible!
Who knows, maybe we’ll be watching one of today’s juniors in the years ahead racing at international level.
