A cold, but dry week to remind us that winter is now definitely here brought the opportunity to run fast and/or festive or far away as Harriers were present at local races and abroad. Lots of great running over the weekend with tinsel and a National Silver Medal sparkling in the crisp sunshine on Sunday.
Seeley Cup 10k, Belfast.
The annual Seeley Cup 10 kilometre road race was held on Saturday afternoon in the cool conditions of Ormeau Park and Embankment. The final fast, flat and fiercely contested 10k race of the year is always a great opportunity to post a good time before the year ends. North Belfast Harriers were well represented in the sold out race field of 850 runners. The club placed 3rd in both the Men’s and Women’s team competitions.

Roise Roberts claimed a National Silver medal at the Cross Country in Navan on Sunday running 14:50.
Valencia Marathon
Conal McCambridge ran a new marathon PB with very even 5K splits, finishing the 26.2 miles in 2:23:09.
Lanzarote Marathon and Half Marathon.
Ray Cameron, Tomas O’Naughton ran the Half whilst Thomas McKinstry ran the marathon .
NI Hospice Jingle Run 5k, Newtownabbey
A number of Harriers took part in the NI Hospice Jingle Run at the Valley Leisure Centre on Sunday morning. Odhran Rafferty was first home, finishing one place better than his silver podium position from last year’s 10k. This year’s event was simplified, with all runners covering the same 5k course, which comprised two laps of the Valley parkrun course. The runners went out in two different waves, based upon expected finishing times. As might be expected, there were some spectacular and extravagant festive costumes evident in this fundraising event for the NI Hospice. Well done to all participants.
