Ulster Even Age Club Cross Country Championships
After a week of wet weather and uncertainty the juniors showed up in style to compete in race one of the Ulster Championships. The other club targeted race is in a few weeks’ time in Donegal. If youve been ignoring Margarets WhatsApp messages then you better reply before its too late. There’s a bus leaving from the club so book on before you miss out. Be a good day out.
As always, a big thanks to coaches for getting there early and setting up the tent. Having a base to meet and keep dry if needed is a big help to all parents and runners. Thanks to Davey and Seamus for sorting out numbers too.
After a quick inspection of the course, it didnt look that bad. It was soft to heavy in places but the lucky ones got to race early enough before the running line got really ploughed up. Sure, its cross country after all so expect to get muddy!
Plenty of the runners will qualify for the All-Ireland Championships. Top 12 individuals and top 4 teams automatically qualify then after its county qualifiers. It’s a complex algorithm but you will know in a few days when all things are added up and cross checked. After that all road lead to Killkenny.

Great running girls. Plenty of pre race nerves from parents and runners but i hope you all enjoyed the experience and come back for more! Plenty of smiles in the photo regardless. Great to see a retro NHB vest come back out of retirement.

Great squad of boys in this race and I see its the first photo with a runner medal. These medals are given out at the finish line for the first 12 to pass. So a big shout out to Cillian for being the first All Ireland Qualifier 👏👏👏👏. The rest of the boys flew up the finishing hill and there might be a few Antrim team qualifiers in the pack.
