After a week of wet and windy weather, the weekend provided ideal Autumnal running conditions for those who participated in cross country, road and parkrunning. The club had team successes at the Bobby Rea XC with a good turnout in both the Women’s and Men’s events.
Bobby Rea International Cross Country
The Billy Neill MBE Country Park, Comber was the venue for a day of Cross Country racing over the undulating and testing terrain. The two kilometre course held up well considering the wet weather over the previous 48 hours and the hundreds of runners who lined up on a glorious sunny Autumnal day.
Running three laps the women and veteran men of North Belfast Harriers were out in force. The Senior Women’s team placed 2nd whilst David Clarke placed 1st overall in the Veteran Men’s Race.

Again, there was a large contingent of Harriers out for the four laps of the Senior Men’s race. Finn McNally was representing NI & Ulster and the Men’s team were tied for 1st place but awarded 2nd on final finishing positions. As with the Women’s race, it was great to see the club represented from the front and all the way through the field of runners. Plenty of points were picked up for the cross country league.

parkrun Results:
Several parkruns were cancelled due to the heavy rainfall in some areas at the end of the week. The Waterworks however, was dry and sunny on Saturday morning and plenty of Harriers were out for their free weekly timed 5k. Well done to any Milestone runners, PBs and thank you to all those who volunteered.
