North Belfast Harriers Race Report 21st – 27th August


Tara 5k
Joe Gallagher represented North Belfast Harriers in the Tara 5k Road Race, on Friday evening. Joe was 3rd in the M60 category, finishing the race in 21:42. The event, which was organised by Tara Athletics Club, started and finished in Skyrne, Co Meath, and took runners on a circuit of the rural roads adjacent to the ancient royal hill of Tara. The course comprised a gentle downhill at the start, followed by the inevitable climb, before a final descent to the finish, on an evening when the heavy showers thankfully abated.


Mourne Runners Two Towers
The final race of the NIMRA Championships was held on Saturday in the Mourne Mountains had a new route. Starting in the Happy Valley and running along the Ulster Way and Trassey Track to Slievenaglogh, Commedagh Tower, Hare’s Gap, Meelmore Tower and returning to Happy Valley to finish. Martsje Hell took first place in the womens race and placed 23rd overall in 1:38:48.


Antrim Coast Half Marathon Mass Race
Conal McCambridge took the win on the fast and flat course in 1:11:03.


Elisoa Crawford was 1st F50 in 1:22:12 and Jack Carberry was 3rd M70 in 2:10:46. Whilst Debbie McConnell 1:25:06 and Janice Plumb 1:40:28 were both 4th in their respective age categories. Also running were Christopher Murray 1:25:06, Maurice Palmer 1:49:46, Fiona Magill 1:59:16 and Thomas McKinstry 2:10:14.

Donegal Half Marathon
Brendan McConnell ran the event in 2:15:06

Florencecourt Last One Standing
Greg McClure took on the latest Atlas Running Last One Standing (Backyard Ultra) event in Fermanangh at the weekend. Running a lap of 4 miles on the hour every hour Greg completed 27 laps of this ultra endurance event.

Rathlin Island Challenge Run
Angela Robinson 28:23 and Colm Smyth 29:00 ran the Rathlin Island 5k on Saturday morning.

Arran Rutledge finished 4th in the 10 Mile race, placing 1st M45 in 1:06:46

The Monument Mile Classic
On Saturday evening in Stirling Andrew Milligan continued his strong track season and ran a track mile in an event that saw over 350 athletes compete over 29 races.

Longford Marathon
Martin Muldoon took on the marathon distance for the first time on Sunday going sub 3 hours with 2:58:43.

parkrun Results:
