The Summer running continued in the sunshine this week for North Belfast Harriers with races across all distances and terrains. There was plenty of podiums, PBs and perspiration in the dry warm weather over the last seven days.
Craigavon Lakes Run 10k
On Wednesday evening, over 350 runners took part in the Craigavon Lakes 5k and 10k organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. Adam Smyth took first place in the two laps 10k, followed by Colin McDowell

Woodburn Forest Series, Race III 5 Miles
In the final race of the series, several Harriers took to the dusty gravel trails of Woodburn. David Curran was 1st M50 and Elisoa Crawford 1st Female (9th overall). John Murphy and Kevin Crossley completed all three races in the series

Hill & Dale Race 8 Loughshannagh
Thursday evening meant more running in the Mourne mountains for Martsje as she competed in the latest race of the Hill and Dale series

On Friday evening Nat was in Trim, running the trails around the castle (which was used in the film Braveheart 25 years ago!)

The water stops and aid stations were well supplied and prepared for several hundred thirsty runners and walkers along the Mourneway on Saturday. In blistering heat (for that part of the world) Martin Muldoon ran an impressive time to finish second in the Half Marathon. Conal placed in the top ten and Martsje also ran well in the ladies race. Simon finished 4th in the Marathon.

Washingbay Green Run 10km
Three member of North Belfast Harriers made the journey to the shores of Lough Neagh, near Coalisland for the Washingbay 10k race. Louise Smith ran a great race to finish first in the Ladies’ Race in a time of 40m: 51s, finishing 53 seconds ahead of her nearest rival. Brian Stewart and Joe Gallagher also tackled the gentle rolling countryside of the 10k course, on a morning when the hazy June sunshine, and the legendary Lough Neigh flies added additional interest.
