A busy week for the Harriers as the racing session gets well and truly under way. Harriers enjoyed stunning scenery from the Mourne Mountains to the Larne coastal road.

Thurs 17th Mar 2022: Spar Craic 10k
North Belfast Harriers turned out in force to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day by taking part in the Spar Craic 10k race, with the emphasis very much on craic. Many donned green to run from the City Hall, up the Falls, down the Grosvenor, up into Botanic Gardens and finally into Ormeau where there was a warm welcome at the finish line.
This event was used as a graduation race for those completing the 5k – 10k course coached by members of NBH. Well done to all of those who took part.
Congratulations to our own Peter McGarry who took 3rd position on the podium with an impressive time of 31min, 32 secs.

Fri 18th Mar 2022: Evening of friendly 5000m
Once again Meadowbank Sports Arena saw running groups from a range of clubs coming together to compete in an evening of friendly 5000m on the track.
A team of five Harriers made the trip to Magherafelt for an enjoyable evening’s running.

Hosted by Larne Athletic Club, these races are very popular with athletes because that they are almost completely flat, allowing runners to attempt PBs. Stunning scenery also helps.

With over 100 runners, North Belfast Harriers took two podium positions with Gavin McCaffrey winning in a time of 16:57. Conor O’Rawe finished seconds behind him at 17:04 with David Clarke coming in at 17:10.
Natasha Henderson and Erin Bettie were 2nd and 3rd ladies home respectively.

Sat 19th Mar 2022: The Fallows
Part of the NIMRA Championship, the Fallows is a challenging route through the Mourne Mountains starting and ending in Rostrevor. The route is 16k with a climb of 800m
Runners start at the edge of Kilbroney Forest Park in Rostrevor and ascend Slievemeen, Slivemartin and Slievedermot before descending back down into Rostrevor Forest.
Martsje Hell flew the flag for the Harriers, finishing the course in 01:35:39. She was the third lady home. Well done Martsje!

Taking place at the International Course, Dublin, Joe Gallagher competed in the 5k Cross Country event in 24:37.
