A quiet week for our Juniors this week, a combination of school exams, winter bugs and sub zero temperatures had an impact on numbers. However several of our juniors took part at evets over the weekend deciding the best way to combat the cold weather was to get running. NI & Ulster Uneven Age Group Cross Country Championship On a sunny day nestled among the glens of East Donegal, 23 Juniors participated in the NI & Ulster Uneven Cross-Country championship at the Finn Valley course in Stranrolar. While the weather was pleasant, the rain in the preceding days ensured there was plenty of good sticky Donegal mud in all the right places thus giving all our juniors a good challenge. London Min Marathon The London mini marathon returned on Saturday 1st October which is an annual event held the day before the London marathon. The Harriers were brilliantly represented by three of our young Stags, Cormac, Alex and Thomas being selected for the Northern Ireland U13 boys’ team with each team comprising of six runners. The course was just over 2.6km and started along the Thames embankment with the boys running past famous sites such as Big Ben, Parliament Buildings, Buckingham Palace …

It was the last full week of the Summer holidays and many of our Juniors were running at various events and back at training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Girls Model, keep an eye on the WhatsApp group for times. This week concludes with the Clubs Laganside 10K at 1pm which also has the Kids 1 mile race in the Ormeau Park taking place before it. Training The coaches and the kids will be taking a well-earned break from training at the track for a few weeks and training will start back in August at the Girls Model again. Details will be confirmed in the parents WhatsApp in due course.
