North Belfast Harriers Race Report 9-15 March 2026

There were plenty of races and distances to choose from this week as the onset of spring continued to stretch the daylight hours and started to push up the temperatures.

Queen’s 3k/5k (Wednesday 11th March)

On a cool, dry, sometimes windy evening, the first race off was the 3k where 10 of the NBH juniors excelled (full details in the junior race report https://northbelfastharriers.com/2026/03/16/north-belfast-harriers-junior-report-9th-15th-march-2026/#more-20776)

The next race was the 5k ‘Elite’ for athletes who could demonstrate a recent sub-20 minute 5k race performance; 34 harriers stepped up to the start line and their results were:

The Walled City 10-mile road race (Saturday 14th March)

Boasting a new and improved course this was another sell-out race well before race day. Five harriers made the trip to toe the line and their results were:

Washingbay Green Run (Saturday 14th March)

On a sunny Saturday morning in Derrylaughan there were three distances on offer: 5k/10k/half marathon. Congratulations to Conor Fegan who won the 5k and ever consistent vet Brian Stewart who won his age category in the 10k. Full results for NBH athletes were:

Jimmy’s 10k (Sunday 15th March)

Sunday morning was quite windy in Downpatrick for the annual ‘Jimmy’s 10’ though luckily most of the runners had completed their race before the worst of the squally showers. Four harriers made the trip, congratulations to Connor Magill and Nuala Muldoon on winning their respective age categories. The full NBH results were:

Irish Masters Indoors (Athlone, Sunday 15th March)

Paul Blaney was the sole club representative at the competitive Irish Masters indoors on Sunday. Paul competed in heat 4 of the M50 3000m and claimed 3rd place with a time of 10:00.18.
