Spring finally arrived by the end of the week and all of the Winter training was put to the test with a variety of races and events. Hopefully the sunshine will stick around for a while yet.
Tafelta AC Night of Friendly 5000s, Magherafelt
Meadowbank Sport Arena was the venue on Wednesday evening for time trialling on the track. Natasha and Paul represented the Harriers.

Hill & Dale, Tollymore Race 2
Thursday evening and the weekly Hill & Dale series was at Tollymore Forest Park where the runners negotiated forest tracks and open mountainside before a steep final climb to the finish. Martsje won the women’s race and Conor placed 10th.

Inter Counties Mountain Race, Keswick
Martsje Hell captained the Northern Ireland women’s team to 10th place in the Inter Counties Mountain Race on Sunday. The race was over 10 miles with 900m of elevation and was also a selection race for the European Off Road Running Championships. In a strong field, Marstje placed 34th.
TCS London Marathon
Sunday morning saw 50,000 runners race around the streets of London. North Belfast Harriers were represented by a small but fast group of individuals who all ran impressive times. Robert also won his age category.

Vienna City Marathon
The 41st Vienna City Marathon took runners around one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. After days of rain, the clouds parted to give glorious weather which proved ideal for running. Maurice Palmer represented the Harriers and ran in a time of 4:27:22.
