Spring has sprung, and some sunshine was a welcome sight this week as many Harriers explored Parkruns far and wide to kickstart the bank holiday weekend. Earlier in the week, some members also attended a celebration for the success of our Cross Country teams.
Athletics NI Awards Night
In recognition of the achievements of our club in the NI Cross Country League 2023/2024, members were invited to attend the Athletics NI Awards Night on Monday 25th February in the Hilton Hotel, Belfast. They were formally given prizes as Combined XC League Winners, Male XC League Winners and Female XC League Winners.
The male team were also presented with an award for Northern Irish Senior Team of the Year. Congratulations to all those who contributed to these incredible successes!
Parkrun
A sunny Saturday morning saw 95 club members take on their local, or not so local, Parkrun. A big thanks to the volunteers who made these events happen! Many PBs were achieved, and some noteworthy runs are also listed below:
John Murphy completed his 600th Parkrun in Falcarragh, celebrating with post-run cake!
Philip McIlwrath and Rosy Ryan each completed the Parkrun ‘alphabet challenge’ journeying to the remote Inis Meáin parkrun, which has a unique starting time of 11am just to allow boat travellers to make it on time!
They will be praised in the NBH Junior Report, however it is worth acknowledging superb PB runs from many of our junior runners. Well done!
