With temperatures plummeting and causing the cancellation of many parkruns on Saturday there was nevertheless some fine running to be had over cross country and at the Malaga marathon festival in Andalusia in southern Spain.
Irwin speirs memorial cross country
On a bright, cold Saturday afternoon, 7 harriers travelled to the MUSA playing fields in Cookstown for the Irwin Speirs Memorial Cross Country. The first race featured the Senior and Masters Women and Male Vets 60+, followed by the Senior and Masters Men. NBH was represented in both, notably placing 5 runners in the top 13 places of the main event to score valuable team points. The results were:

Malaga half marathon
This event is advertised as ‘One of the best marathons in Spain and a great opportunity to tour in a unique way the main points of the capital of the Costa del Sol’. It offers a choice of full or half marathon races with NBH man Ray Cameron choosing the half and putting in a fine performance to duck under the 1hr40 barrier with a time of 1:39:22.
Telford 10k
In the prestigious Telford 10k Andrew Milligan flew the flag for NBH finishing a fine 10th in 29:18. The first 32 runners all broke 30 minutes !
parkrun
The cold weather on Saturday morning caused the cancellation of a number of events. However several were still able to go ahead and offered the opportunity for some of the harriers to get their weekend off to a good start. Full results were:
