Rathlin Island, the Antrim Coast and Portrush were the spectacular locations for the main races this week for the harriers, as well as parkruns far and wide.
Portrush 5 mile road race: Fri 26th Aug
Matthew McCombe was the only harrier at this one, taking 4th place overall in a field of 209 runners. Matthew’s time was 27:51.
Ards 5m road race: fri 26th AUG
The traditional late August Ards 5m race took place on Friday evening. A field of exactly 200 runners took on the undulating course with Jason Reid running 43:16 in 117th place.
Rathlin Runs: Sat 27th aug
The popular Rathlin runs took place on Saturday morning with the usual options of 5km or 10 miles and four harriers made the ferry crossing from Ballycastle to participate.
The 5k race was won by Philip Goss who in the process set a new course record of 16:17, 2:15 off the previous record. Philip also currently holds the 10 mile course record !
In the 10 mile race Arran Rutledge took 4th place with Ray Cameron and Helen Weir finishing close together in 29th and 30th places respectively in a field of 159 runners. Full results were:

Antrim Coast Classic Street Mile: Sat 27th
Unfortunately a visa problem meant that Haile Gebrselassie was unable to take part but there were still some fast times in this one with Conor Curran finishing in 4:46 to take 3rd place overall and 1st in the M40 category.
antrim coast half marathon: Sun 28th
First off on Sunday morning was the elite race, with John Black (52nd, 71:40) and Gladys Ganiel (76th, 79:21) representing NBH in a classy field of 80 runners. At the front Ethiopians Yalemzerf Yehualaw (64:22) and Jemal Yimer (59:03) repeated their wins of last year, both setting UK all-comers records in the process.
In the mass race there were 24 harriers in the field of nearly 1500 runners, with a unique world record set by Davey and April Clarke for the fastest combined time for a mixed parent-child pair in a half marathon. Their overall time of 2:44:02 was comfortably inside the current record of 2:58:35.
There were also age category wins for Gareth Lyons, Davey Clarke and evergreen Jack Carberry. Full results were:
