Solid day’s work at stormont

The Northern Ireland junior, intermediate and veterans cross country took place today at stormont with firm conditions underfoot due to the frosty weather. Highlights of the day for North were Cathy’s victory in the ladies vets race, team bronze in the mens vets race and Conor Magill’s fourth in the junior race. First up were the vets. Super runs at the Seeley

Yesterday was the Joe Seeley 10K the major road race of the Winter with a field that reflected that status. The race is run annually in commemoration of an athlete whom I can remember running against over 30 years ago. A great athlete and a gentleman. North had a superb day with a lot of personal bests. Amanda and Greg Lead the Way in Saul 10k

It was a double victory for North Belfast Harriers as Amanda Perry and Greg McClure took 1st place in their respective categories on Sunday’s Saul 10k. The tough hilly course was Mc Clure’s first outing since his recent success at the Dublin marathon. Greg was 1st in the Male 50 category and 11th place overall. Just two places behind him came Amanda Perry. Amanda comfortably won the Ladies race by a clear minute ahead of the next female. Well done Amanda! Both …

The Sun Shines as North Belfast Proudly Represented in Dublin Marathon 2010

The 31st annual Lifestyle Sports-adidas Dublin marathon was held on 25th October 2010. It was a perfect day for marathon running, with cool temperatures and glorious sunshine, as 13,000 plus runners took to the streets of Dublin. The Dublin marathon can only be described as one which gets better every year and this year proved no exception with support rife among the City’s streets. Club development current status

Until recently track and gym facilities were not available in the area so we had to travel cross town for to source safe venues for children or specialist senior training. This limited opportunities to those who had the transport and the time to commute. Recently two community schools opened in the area have put gyms, sports halls and running tracks at our disposal. We have embarked on a three year development plan in conjunction with the council and the community schools charity …

parkrun comes to Belfast

Last Saturday saw the first parkrun in Ireland run at the Waterworks Park. The event is a free timed 5k run over a UK Athletic certified course. The footing is all traffic free tarmac footpaths contained within the park. A still Autumn morning set the mood for over 100 participants from club athletes to mothers with prams, and from pensioners to primary school children with parents.
