On a busy weekend of racing where weather was always likely to have an influence on proceedings several of the North Belfast Harriers participated in races on the country, road and trail. Stormont Cross Country First up on Saturday morning was the annual Northern Ireland Civil Service AC cross country event at Stormont. Weekly report 30 Jan – 05 Feb 2017

Trim 10 mile Road Race On Sunday 05 Feb the annual 10 mile road race took place in Trim in Co. Meath. With a total of 1264 finishers in this popular race, there were fine runs by Breege Connolly and Gladys O’Neill who finished in 1st and 2nd place in the ladies race, with Breege winning in 58:25 and Gladys in runners up in 58:58. Weekly Report 08 January 2017

In the first full week of the new year NBH runners were taking advantage of the unseasonably mild weather and recording fine performances at various events up and down the country. Race Over The Glens (Monday 2nd January) With New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, the annual race over the Glens took place instead on Monday the 2nd of January. Weekly Report 12-18 December 2016

Born 2 Run ‘Run Forest Run’ Kilbroney 10k/5k On Saturday 17 December, well over five hundred athletes took part in the Kilbroney Forest Run Forest Run 10k and 5k races. The challenging 10k course, which consisted mainly of forest trails, saw an outstanding performance by Gladys Ganiel O’Neill who recorded 37:15 for 1st place in the ladies race and 2nd place overall. Club colleague Conor Sheridan competed in the male open category and finished in 146th place in a time of 53:13. …

Weekly Report 20 November 2016 : Running in the dark, the forest, the mud and the park

Despite the onset of the colder weather NBH athletes were out in force at a number of events this week. The popular Run in the Dark race was first up at a wet and windy Stormont Estate on Wednesday 16th. Weekly Report 13 November: Glasgow Cross Country and Tollymore Trails

British & Irish Masters Cross Country International, Glasgow, Scotland Saturday 12th November saw the 29th British & Irish Masters Cross Country Championships hosted by Scottish Masters in Tollcross Park, Glasgow. On a challenging course and in perfect running conditions the first race saw the ladies and M65 men competing over 6km. Paula Wallace (NI) ran strongly for 25:45 and 17th place in the V45 category.
